It was in early 2010, in the run-up to the FIFA 2010 Soccer World Cup being hosted in South Africa, that I first met the team of the Defence Reserves office, and that I had an opportunity to go behind the scenes at the Cape Town Military Tattoo, which is held (almost) every year at the Castle of Good Hope in Central Cape Town.
Initially, my role was primarily one of writing articles and blog posts about various military events and parades and taking a couple of photos to illustrate those. Gradually, though, my focus shifted more and more to the photography side of things.
I do still write, but I also really enjoy taking photographs, and writing has taken a bit of a back seat – mainly because it seems to take me far longer to write something than it does to take nice images.
My main reason for creating this new blog was that I wanted to have a place where I could bring together all my writings and images of the Cape Town Military Tattoo, from 2010 to 2015, and to share my memories of these spectacular military events.
So I hope that you will enjoy browsing through the posts and pages as they become available.
